Ballz Visual Radio will be syndicated on Mix FM weekdays between 15:00 and 18:00 with an extended show on Fridays until 20:00 featuring the Just Plain Gang with Darren Scott, Simon Hill, John Walland & Kate Nokwe. The additional two-hour Friday night show welcomes popular radio personalities IanF and Sasha Martinengo to Mix FM. The station currently estimates its audience at just under 250 000 listeners through extensive research conducted.

The weekday Mix FM daytime line-up continues to feature radio legend Tony Blewitt for breakfast, at 9am Roxy Blows takes to the air with Saskia V between 12 and 3pm. The Just Plain Gang assumes the reins from 3pm to 6pm and Friday nights IanF and Sasha Martinengo host 6-8pm. Weekend daytime shows include Keith Burrows for breakfast, Hein Kaiser for brunch with Olive at lunch and Al Your Pal from 4-7pm.

Bush Radio’s mid morning programme The Morning Cruise (9am to 12pm) requires an intern to help produce and present the programme on a daily basis.

The internship is voluntary but a transport allowance of no more than R 1000 per month will be offered.

As an on-air producer intern you will be required to be available before, during and after the programme to assist with production duties (8am – 4pm, Mon – Fri).

Requirements and Personal attributes:

* Professional, attention to detail, good time management, willing to learn all aspects of broadcasting, be creative, a people’s person, be articulate and a team player.

** Fluent in Afrikaans (does not have to be formal Afrikaans, jy moet die taal kan gooi)and one other official language.

*** The ideal volunteer for this position would be someone who is on a “gap year” or someone looking at gaining experience in the radio broadcasting industry.

On the day we all arrived eager to find out what was happening. The secret had been well kept because when we all discovered we would be taking part in an ‘Amazing Race’ we were very surprised. We were split up into teams, given our colours, given our first set of clues, and an egg that we were not allowed to break for the entire duration of the race.

And off we went.

Among the rules were not to sabotage each other. Not to drive too fast, not to cheat. Naturally, none of us stuck to those rules. There were also ways to score more points. Naturally – we had to do a lot of that to make for all the rule breaking.

After running through Honeydew Mazes looking for a bottle that smelled like liquorice, rowing a boat blind folded around a fountain at Zoo Lake, hunting for Egyptian ducks (when you don’t know what they look like), running through a cemetery looking for a particular tomb stone trying not to be too irreverent,  stacking soda cans in the middle of a shop, driving like lunatics and smiling and waving at the other contestants who CLEARLY have NO IDEA where they are going… so they follow another team..  to the wrong place… because that team also don’t know where they are going

One of the teams cracked their egg’s along the way… so decided to cheat and stop to buy another one. Thinking they were VERY clever (getting the same size egg as the one they had been given) carried on their journey to the final destination.

Being the second last team, what they had NOT seen was that all the eggs had been boiled before being given out. So when it came time to smash the eggs over a team members head…  they were BUSTED!!

It was a good afternoon, and everyone had a great day!! A BRILLIANT idea for a Christmas activity.

First Place: Bongs, Simon, Bertha and Steffi. (Congratulations! – You drive like crazy people)
Second Place: Leon, Sassy, Daw n and Mike. (Hahahahah)

Fourth Place: David, Noks, Mawillies and Don. (That’s what happens when you follow the ‘lost’)
Fifth Place: Sean, Patricia, Debbie and Mohale. (You didn’t drive fast enough?)
Sixth Place: Thapelo, Tshepiso, Nomatter and Samantha. (Yes, I know. We cheated. Its karma)
Seventh Place: Masa, Sbu and Rachelle. (There are no losers. We still love you.)

Thank you everyone for joining in. It was a BLAST!!  Thank you Liz and Dotty for waiting around at the locations for all the crazy people to arrive. And a BIG thank you to Joanne and Judy for all the planning. It was great.

The only complaint – is that whoever decided to put the Mexican Chilli chips right next to the Smoked Beef chips. That was mean….     clever. But mean.
